SimilarWeb Portrait gives app developers chance to deliver highly personalized experience through inferred demographics; product based on technology from Quettra acquired in December
SimilarWeb™, the global cross-device market intelligence company, today announced the full public release of SimilarWeb Portrait. SimilarWeb Portrait is already used with many of the world’s leading apps and runs on hundreds of millions of mobile devices to provide personalized content and customized experiences for users from the first session after an app is installed.
Portrait was developed by SimilarWeb’s new Mobile R&D division formed after the acquisition of Silicon Valley-based Quettra last year. SimilarWeb Portrait is based on the core technology developed by Quettra for mobile app user intelligence.
SimilarWeb Portrait uses inferred analytics and advanced statistical algorithms to build up an inferred demographics profile or “Portrait” of the user, including age, gender, interests and favorite brands, without retaining any personally identifying information.
App developers can use this data within milliseconds of the app install, to personalize their app, creating a more targeted onboarding and ongoing user experience, dramatically improving retention, deepening engagement, and reducing churn.
Ankit Jain, Associate Vice President Product, SimilarWeb, said: “User retention and engagement are the most pressing issues for app developers. Unfortunately, a user’s first interaction with an app can often be their last, with most apps losing more than 77% of users within three days of installation.”
“SimilarWeb Portrait gives developers the tools they need to personalize their app’s experience, dramatically improving a sometimes chaotic onboarding process and enhancing the overall user journey and experience.
“With the entire SimilarWeb suite of tools, not only can app makers understand their own users at a much deeper level, but they can also look externally at their competitors to benchmark their performance against their competitors and industry.”
The release of SimilarWeb Portrait is part of SimilarWeb’s investment in delivering data solutions to assist businesses to discover, decide and deploy their digital strategy. For the first time, SimilarWeb now offers, not only competitive market intelligence tools based on the most accurate global data for desktop mobile and apps, but the ability for developers to leverage this global data to analyze their own user base and personalize their applications accordingly.
