Mobility, transportation, sustainability, energy, urban planning, and safety – these are the topics of this year’s Smart City Expo World Congress, which is being held in Barcelona from November 13 to 15. Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) pioneer moovel will be showcasing the latest products and solutions that help cities structure mobility more intelligently at the world’s leading trade fair for smart cities in hall 2, booth 603 on more than 120 square meters.
The Smart City Expo World Congress has set itself the objective of strengthening cities and bringing urban innovation together around the world. The trade fair offers a unique platform focusing on sustainable and future-oriented urban development, allows exhibitors and visitors to immerse themselves in the world of the future, and facilitates networking. As a Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform, moovel offers cities and transit authorities the opportunity to boost access to mobility and thus make it more attractive. A mobility app tailored specifically to the particular needs of a city contributes to this. In addition, with its on-demand ridesharing technology developed in-house, moovel also provides the perfect complement to public transportation in the city, which can be used as an additional support especially in the evening hours – for example in Los Angeles: since October 2018, app-based shared rides in Mercedes-Benz vehicles based on moovel on-demand technology have been available in the city center of LA.
Another innovation from Daimler’s wholly owned mobility subsidiary is the digital marketplace, which was launched in Berlin in September 2018 at InnoTrans, the world’s leading international trade fair for transportation technology, and is now part of the product portfolio. The most important feature of moovel’ s new Software-as-a-Service solution is the flexible modeling of payment flows, which is particularly crucial for intermodal journeys. The state-of-the-art marketplace solution is designed to help cities and transit authorities develop into MaaS providers. Another part of the moovel trade fair stand will be the presentation of the Fare Connect solution, a pilot project developed by moovel North America. Fare Connect combines the performance of moovel’s proven mobile-ticketing software with the speed and simplicity of contactless technology, thereby further simplifying access to mobility.
