Single-use flow sensor for proximal measurements in ventilation

Sensirion, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality sensors and sensor solutions for the measurement and control of humidity, temperature, and gas and liquid flow, will be at the COMPAMED 2016 trade fair to present the SFM3300-D, its single-use mass flow meter for gases, for the first time. This single-use sensor offers high accuracy, robustness and an extremely short signal processing time. Developed for proximal flow measurement in medical applications such as ventilation or anesthesia, it is also suitable for other applications that require a disposable solution.

Sensirion is launching the SFM3300-D mass flow meter, a single-use sensor for proximal flow measurements. The digital SFM3300-D is extremely accurate and robust, and has a short signal processing time. It is fully bidirectionally calibrated and measures flow rates up to 250 slm. The special design of the flow channel results in minimal dead space and the slightly increased pressure drop ensures very high stability in varying inlet conditions. Furthermore, the sensor can be connected via medical cones for the pneumatic connection to the respiratory cycle, and has a mechanical interface for a user-friendly electrical connection. Thanks to these features, the new mass flow meter is particularly suitable for proximal flow measurements in medical ventilation and other respiratory applications.

Like all Sensirion’s sensors, the new SFM3300-D flow sensor features the innovative CMOSens® Technology, which allows the integration of sensor and signal processing circuitry on a single tiny CMOS silicon chip. The result is an ultra-precision system that offers long-term stability for sophisticated and cost-sensitive applications. In addition, the technology is also highly resistant to environmental influences.

The SFM3300-D mass flow meter completes Sensirion’s comprehensive SFM3xxx platform for flow measurements, which now comprises six sensor products and covers all gas flow measurement in medical technology. The sensors can be used in a wide range of medical applications, such as ventilation or anesthesia, inhalers, drug delivery and metabolic measurements. The SFM3000, SFM3100 and SFM3200 mass flow meters are suitable for inspiratory flow measurements; the SFM3200-AW, SFM3300-AW and SFM3300-D mass flow meters are the first choice for expiratory or proximal flow measurements. Further mass flow meters will be launched in 2017.

Come and visit Sensirion from November 14 to 17, 2016 in Düsseldorf at the COMPAMED trade fair, Hall 8a, Stand H19.6, and find out more about the new disposable mass flow meters for medical applications. More information is available at: www.sensirion.com/sfm3300-d.
