RS Components signs authorised global distribution agreement with Power Integrations, boosting support for power supply designers

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc(LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, has become an authorised worldwide distributor for Power Integrations (Nasdaq: POWI), giving RS customers faster access to new products from the leading innovator in power semiconductor technologies for applications including offline AC/DC power conversion, IGBT and gate driving and offline LED drivers.

The new formal distribution agreement empowers RS to present customers with the latest products and manufacturer-aided support to help them comply with increasingly stringent eco-design efficiency targets that aim to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These include tougher power-adapter specifications that have now reached Level VI in the US. The extended scope of the European Ecodesign Directive, and new US and international initiatives, means products such as uninterruptible power supplies, emerging categories including EV charging equipment, and networked appliances like IoT devices are all now covered by the regulations.

“Strengthening our connection with Power Integrations now enables us to enhance support and raise awareness for customers, as legislators continue to bring forward more demanding and wide-ranging eco-design rules for more and more product types marketed worldwide,” said Jon Boxall, Head of Semiconductors, RS.

“RS Components has a strong track record in our target markets globally, and we look forward to achieving even better results together,” said Ben Sutherland, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, Power Integrations. “Our new agreement ensures enhanced ability to deliver technically superior solutions and responsive support.”

RS is supporting the complete Power Integrations portfolio, which includes AC/DC converter controllers for line-powered equipment such as chargers, adapters, home appliances, office equipment and lighting. These include highly integrated InnoSwitch™, LinkSwitch™ and TOPSwitch™ families for various converter topologies and power ratings, the Hiper™ family for applications requiring power-factor correction, space-saving TinySwitch™ controllers, and power-saving control and communication ICs such as ChiPhy™, SENZero™, CAPZero™ and LinkZero™ devices. There are also highly miniaturised and efficient LED drivers such as the the LYTSwitch™ series, and SCALE™ IGBT drivers suited to applications such as large industrial drives, traction, power transmission, and renewable-energy conversion.
