Keysight Technologies Demonstrates Gigabit LTE-A Download Speeds with UXM, Qualcomm Snapdragon X16 LTE Modem

Gigabit Class 4G LTE Provides a Glimmer of 5G Enhanced Mobile Broadband

Highlights:

  • Industry leadership with LTE Category 16 1Gbps IP data download speeds with commercial test equipment
  • Showcase collaboration with Keysight UXM wireless test set and Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ X16 LTE modem

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) today announced successful verification of 1Gbps IP data throughput with the Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, and the E7515A UXM wireless test set. This accomplishment brings support for LTE-A category 16 (Cat16) IP data throughput in a benchtop network emulator and was demonstrated live at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Keysight and Qualcomm Technologies worked in concert to achieve sustained IP data downloads of 1Gbps, utilizing a combination of three component carrier aggregation (3CC), 4×4 downlink MIMO and 256QAM modulation.

“The path to Gigabit class LTE speeds on a mobile device is the next step in the evolution of LTE, and thanks to the work between Qualcomm Technologies and Keysight, we are making that a reality today,” said Francesco Grilli, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We look forward to continuing work with Keysight to drive progress and innovation in mobile technologies.”

“We are very pleased to have worked with Qualcomm Technologies on this important milestone,” said Satish Dhanasekaran, general manager of Keysight’s Wireless Devices and Operator Segment. “Keysight is committed to working with today’s wireless leaders to bring cutting-edge test capabilities like Gigabit Class LTE data to market faster.”

The UXM’s first-to-market benchtop support for five component carrier (5CC) data throughput and 1.6Gbps data rates via 4CC carrier aggregation and 4×4 downlink MIMO. Along with increased data throughput rates, the UXM further enhances device performance verification with support for 8×2 and 8×4 downlink MIMO, up to four component carriers in a single test set (in two bands), and an integrated iPerf network throughput tool.
