Keynote address by Eugene Kaspersky
Eugene Kaspersky, CEO Kaspersky Lab, is attending embedded world and will give one of the main keynote addresses. In his speech, “The Long Hard Road Out of the Cyber Dark Ages”, he highlights how IT security aspects are also becoming increasingly relevant in the IoT in the face of the growing fusion between IT and the embedded world. For cybersecurity experts, it is particularly difficult to safeguard systems that were not developed with the risk of security attacks in mind. Kaspersky calls for the introduction of development standards that will make software inherently more secure. IoT and Security & Safety: focal points of the embedded world conference
In 2016, the embedded world Conference once again bears the motto “We are the Internet of Things” (IoT). The development of the Internet of Things requires expertise in the core disciplines of the embedded world such as hardware and software development, systems engineering or management. Secure communication routes are also a crucial factor for the Internet of Things. Security and safety of embedded systems play a vital role in the conference. Experts from well-known companies, for example, will be presenting suitable protection solutions, describing secure transmission channels and showing how security and safety can be specifically integrated into planning and installation at various levels.
Under the heading “Internet of Things”, all three conference days will provide answers to the most urgent questions about this second focal point of the conference; here, the spectrum ranges from open-source through the suitability of different communication protocols to best-practice examples of particular IoT nodes and applications.

The electronic displays conference will have its best foot forward for this, the 30th occasion on which it has been held, and offers a rich programme to whet the appetites of the trade world. It represents a complete digest of all the relevant information on displays for developers, users and decision-makers. This conference is shaping up to be as excellent as the embedded world Exhibition&Conference itself. The highlights in 2016 will include keynote presentations on new approaches in display technology and market and display trends, given by internationally recognised experts. Success factors for displays in automotive applications and the latest trends in touchscreens will be among the main themes and highlights of the conference. The programme will be rounded off by sessions on such topics as display measuring equipment, interfaces and display optimisation. New exhibitor record in the M2M area
The embedded world is constantly growing, and along with it the special areas amid all the exhibition activities. The best example is the M2M Area: the number of exhibitors in Hall 5 has now grown to 58 companies presenting their new product developments in the field of both wireless and wired M2M applications. The portfolio includes remote maintenance, tracking and tracing, e-payment, e-mobility, facility management, and M2M for machine and plant construction.
But M2M communication has a key role to play beyond the exhibition halls, too. The embedded world conference reflects this aspect in all its professional depth.

The electronic displays area in Hall 1 has grown yet again. In 2016 there will be 58 exhibitors displaying their products and services to the international professional world in the fields of LCD, OLED, PDP, LED and ePaper. Flexible displays, human-machine interfaces, graphical user interfaces, touchscreens and 3D displays round out the electronic displays area.

At their pavilion in Halls 4 and 4A, 15 young, innovative German companies present their top products and innovations. Solutions for hardware, new ideas for software programming, and forward-looking services will be exhibited here by creative, innovative members of the upcoming generation.
embedded AWARD 2016: distinction for innovative products
For the 12th time in a row, the embedded AWARDS will be presented for especially innovative products and developments in the categories of hardware, software and tools. On day 1 of the exhibition, 23 February, the coveted awards in the industry will be presented as part of the international press tour by Prof. Matthias Sturm, Chairman of the Jury, and Dr. Roland Fleck, CEO of NürnbergMesse. STUDENT DAY 2016: more than 1,000 university-level students expected
Some have travelled very long distances to get to know the embedded industry, chase up internships in embedded system development and find attractive employment opportunities in state-of-the-art, innovative companies. The effort is worth it for the more than 1,000 university-level students who attend the STUDENT DAY every year. The highlight in 2016 will be an address by Prof. F. J. Radermacher, of the Institute for Databases and Artificial Intelligence and the Research Institute for Applied Knowledge Processing (FAW/n) at the University of Ulm.
