Mouser Stocks Cypress CYPD1120 USB Type-C Controller with Alternate Mode Capabilities

Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now shipping the CYPD1120 USB Power Delivery Alternate Mode controller on Type-C™ technology from Cypress. The CYPD1120 controller, part of Cypress’ EZ-PD™ CCG1 family of USB Type-C solutions, provides a complete USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery upstream facing port (UFP) control solution. Using the CCG1 family’s scalable and reconfigurable core architecture, the CYPD1120 controller with integrated Type-C transceiver enables a base Type-C solution that can scale to a complete 100W USB Power Delivery with Alternate Mode multiplexer (mux) support.

The Cypress CYPD1120 controller, available from Mouser Electronics, is based on the Cypress PSoC® 4 programmable system-on-chip architecture. The 32-bit microcontroller subsystem is based on a 48‑MHz ARM® Cortex®-M0 with 32 kBytes of flash memory. Developers can program the controller’s hardware and firmware using common open source firmware or custom solutions developed with common libraries and APIs. The controller includes a SPI/UART/I2C port, up to 30 general-purpose inputs and outputs (GPIOs), and a royalty-free USB-IF Power Delivery 2.0 compliant stack.

The CYPD1120 controller makes it easier to add USB Power Delivery to any architecture because it provides the control signals to manage external VBUS and VCONN power management solutions, as well as external mux controls for most single cable-docking solutions. The controller provides design flexibility for multiple USB Type-C applications, such as power adapters, USB Type-C-to-video dongles, and monitors.
