MEET THE NEW HIVE FAMILY!

2016 is shaping up to be a really exciting year for us at Hive, not least because we’re delighted to be launching thelatest additions to our product family.

From today, Wednesday 27 January, you’ll be able to order your Hive Active Plugs™ and Hive Window or Door Sensors here, and if you don’t already have our first connected home product, Hive Active Heating™, what are you waiting for?!

Research we’ve commissioned shows that 1 in 3 of us admit to feeling anxious that we’ve left electrical appliances such as hair straighteners or the iron on when we leave home, and that for almost a quarter of us the resulting ‘power paranoia’ has ruined our day.

At Hive, we’re firm believers that technology should make our lives easier – so we’ve developed The Hive Active Plug™ to banish these niggling doubts and uncertainties. It lets you turn appliances on and off from wherever you are, as well as allowing you to set a schedule using up to six time slots a day to switch electrical appliances on and off automatically.

Our research also showed that as we rush to leave the house every morning, 10% of us have left the house without securely shutting the front door, 28% have left windows open and more than a third (38%) have mistakenly left lights on.

This is where the Hive Window or Door Sensor comes in. They help you monitor what’s going on at home, even when you’re not there. The wireless sensor is attached to a window or door frame, and will send an alert to your mobile, tablet or laptop via the Hive app if the window or door is open or closed.

As well as the Hive Active Plug™ and Hive Window or Door Sensor, you’ll shortly be able to get your hands on the Hive Motion Sensor – a wireless passive infra-red (PIR) motion sensor that will detect motion in a space. You’ll then be notified via your mobile, tablet or laptop.

If this wasn’t enough, we’ll soon be launching our Hive Active Light™, that lets you turn your lights on or off from wherever you are. And IFTTT (if this, then that) will be coming your way in the coming months too, which will allow you to create bespoke, automated logic between your Hive and non-Hive products.

These developments are the next step in our journey towards giving you the tools you need to create a connected home. And we’re not stopping here. We’re continuously working on enhancements to the design of our award-winning Hive app, including new functionality being released every 2-4 weeks. Last but not least, our Hive family of connected products will continue to grow and evolve, so watch this space for more updates.
